MHRD, Department of School Education National Means cum Merit Scholarship 2016. Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education & Literacy Centrally Sponsored the NATIONAL MEANS CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP (NMMSS) 2016 for Secondary (10th) Passed Students. The objective of the scheme is to award Scholarship to meritorious students of economically weaker sections. The awardees should be given in Secondary (Class VIII to Class IX) & Higher Secondary (Class X to XII) level. The selection of students award of the Scholarship is made through an Examination conducted by the State Government. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)
The Centrally sponsored Scheme "National Means Cum merit Scholarship 2016" or National MCM Scholarship 2016 through Department of School Education. The objective of the scheme is to awarded Scholarships to meritorious students of economically weaker sections to arrest their drop out of class 8th and Encourage them to continue the study at Secondary Stage. Scholarship of Rs.6000/ per annual per students is awarded to selected students every year for study in class From IX to XII in State Government, Government aided and local body schools. There is quota of scholarship for different States / UTs Students whose garden Annual income form all sources is not more than Rs.15000/ are eligible to avail the Scholarship. There is reservation as per State Government rules. The selection of Students award of the scholarship is made through an Examination conducted by the State Government. Scholarship are distrusted by the State Bank of India directly into the Bank accounts of students on quarterly basic.

Eligibility Criteria :
The awardees should get clear promotion from Class VIII to Class IX being eligible for stating the Scholarship.
The Scholarship at the Secondary and Higher Secondary state or equivalent Classes IX to XII is payable for a maximum period Four years for studies in India only.
No scholarship at this stage is payable for studying Diploma / Certificate level course.
For continuing the scholarship in Class X and XII the awardees should get clear promotion  from Class IX to X and from Class XI to Class XII in the first attempted with 55% marks (50% marks for SC / ST Students).
The awardees must be obtain a minimum 60% marks in Class (55% for SC / ST Students) examination or Equivalent examination for continuation of the scholarship at Higher Secondary stage.
In case an institution does not conducted an examination at the end of Class IX and Class XI, the scholarship for the second year will be continued on the submission of a certificate to this effect from the Head of Institution.

Selection Process for Scholarship :
The selection of students will be based on Examination. Each State / Union Territory will conducted its own test for selection of students for the award of the National Means cum Merit Scholarship. The State level Examination consist of the following Two Stage-

Mental Ability Test (MAT) - MAT consist of 90 Multiple Choice Question testing verbal and non verbal Meta-cognitive abilities like- Reasoning and Critical Thinking, The question in the test may be on Analogy, Classification, Numerical Series, Pattern Preception, Hidden Figures etc. Each Test will be of 90 minutes duration. Children with Disability will be given extra time, as applicable.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) - Sat consist of 90 multiple choice questions covering subject namely, Science, Social Studies and Mathematics as taught in Class VII and VIII. The duration of Test is 90 Minutes.

National MCM Scholarship Result & Selection for Aid :
The students must pass both test- MAT and SAT with at least 40% marks in each, for reserved category this cut off marks will be 32%.
The parental income of the students should not be exceed that Rs.1.50 lakh per annual from all the sources.
At the time of selection for the award of scholarship the candidate must have scored at least 55% marks or equivalent examination. There will be 5% marks relaxation for SC / ST students.
The awardees should satisfy the eligibility and the conditions mentioned in the scheme

Others Requirements :
A student can available only One Scholarship under any scheme.
The awardees will be asked to open Joint Account with Parents in State Bank of India, which has core banking faculty.

Process for Applying in National MCM Scholarship :
Candidates required to apply through National Scholarship Portal (NSP) scholarships.gov.in. Students must Register on NSP Portal. If you are a Student and this is your First Login, then Click on Register Button & Enter the Preliminary Details such as Student Name, Domicile State, Fresh / Renewal, Father/Mother/Guardian name, Date of Birth, Caste, Community, Aaadhar No, Email number / Student Id. After successful Registration, Candidates required to Log in with Students Registration Id & Password. After Log in Student required Enter Educational Qualification.
